Seven arrested in Malaysia over Pakistani human trafficking suspicions

Seven Pakistani men were arrested in Kuala Lumpur on suspicion of involvement in a human trafficking case. The suspects, aged between 21 and 44, were apprehended at an apartment in Taman Pandan Perdana, Ampang. The police were alerted to the situation by a 23-year-old Pakistani male victim who had been beaten by four of the suspects, who were believed to be agents responsible for bringing him to Malaysia for work.

The victim’s passport was confiscated by the suspects, and he was not allowed to leave the house. During the arrest, the police rescued four other Pakistani male victims and seized 22 Pakistani passports, five suitcases, three mobile phones, and the broomstick used to assault the victims.

None of the suspects had previous criminal records, and all tested negative for drugs. They have been remanded for seven days, and the case is being investigated under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act (ATIPSOM) 2007, which covers trafficking people with the intention of exploitation.
