PIL launches weekly service to link key ports in Thailand, Philippines, Singapore

Pacific International Lines (PIL) is set to revolutionize Southeast Asian shipping with its new weekly direct service, the Thailand Philippines Straits Service (TPS), launching on February 15, from Manila, Philippines.

This service will bring the key ports of Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore closer together and enhance PIL’s connections in the region. A consortium of vessels with an average capacity of 750 TEUs, jointly operated by PIL and Philippine-based Iris Lines, Inc., will serve TPS, reported Asia Cargo News.

While the shipping industry has been boosted by the news linking the Southeast Asian ports the same can’t be said about flights in Thailand.

Regional airline Bangkok Airways announced the temporary suspension of two of its routes “until further notice.”

Bangkok Airways will suspend all flights on the domestic Bangkok – Hat Yai route on March 1, 2023.

The international route Bangkok – Da Nang, in Vietnam, will be suspended from May 1, 2023.

The airline did not reveal the reason for the temporary suspension of the two popular routes with no set dates for their return.

Passengers who already bought tickets on the aforementioned routes beyond the suspension dates have three options…

  1. Request a refund as a ‘Travel Voucher’ to use on other flights serviced by the airline via www.bangkokair.com/travel-voucher
  2. Request a full monetary refund via https://www.bangkokair.com/managing-my-booking
  3. Have Bangkok Airways rearrange the flight on another airline

For more information, passengers can call Bangkok Airways’ helpline on 1771 or 02-270-6699 between 8am – 8pm.

Alternatively, use the airline’s live chat service to have queries answered or email reservation@bangkokair.com.
