Today (May 2), Phuket Vice Governor Thawornwat Kongkaew is inspecting the area.

For an urgent solution officials are checking every area where wastewaters are coming from. For a longer term solution, areas where wastewater is flowing into the sea will be dredged or the creation of a monkey cheek will be investigated. “Every municipality needs to conduct wastewater management system”.

Karon Mayor Tawee Tongcham says, “The rain washes out black soil in the canal and mixes with sea water. Public works officers have been dredging the canal over the past 24 hours. They are using a backhoe to remove black soil for a short term solution. This way we can get rid of the black colour from the canal. It is expected that the works will be finished within six hours. So everything will get to normal soon.”
