And you thought WE had problems with crocodiles!?

OK, so we have one elusive crocodile playing hide ‘n seek with a ‘consortium’ of crocodile hunters (we’ll admit we don’t know what the collective noun is for crocodile hunters). But Songkhla have a whole different croc problem.
An unknown number of crocodiles have escaped from a farm in Songkhla’s Singhanakorn district after a wall at their enclosure collapsed on Sunday.
Learning about the incident and fearing for their safety, villagers living near the farm are hunting for the animals and have killed about 20.

It is unknown how many crocodiles are still on the loose.

The farm is situated on five rai (0.8 hectares) of land in a swamp area in the district. The farm’s owners transferred crocodiles to a new area after the collapse, but they could not determine how many reptiles had escaped.

Villagers said they had shot about 20 crocodiles, fearing the animals would attack them and their families.

Residents are still on alert and hunting the reptiles because the farm could not confirm whether all the crocodiles had been recaptured.

The most urgent concern is that the animals might populate natural water sources.
