Marijuana dealer arrested
CHALONG: Police yesterday arrested Pan Inraksa, 40, in Rawai for possession of marijuana with intent to sell the drug. Pol Lt Teerawat Liumsuwan of Chalong Police Station told the Gazette that the police had received reports that many people living in Baan Bangkontee, Moo 4, in Rawai had recently been robbed. The people believed that the robbers were local teenagers, a lot of whom seemed to be heavy users of marijuana. The source of the supply, informants said, was believed to be Pan. A plain-clothes officer posing as a drug user was therefore sent to Pan’s home to buy a bag of marijuana. After the transaction was complete, the officer identified himself and arrested Pan on possession and trafficking charges. A subsequent search uncovered five more bags of marijuana under a pile of concrete bricks behind Pan’s house. The marijuana seized weighed a total of 300 grams, with at estimated retail value of around 1,200 baht. Pol Lt Teerawat said Pan later admitted that he had bought the marijuana from a man named Son in Phang-Nga.
