Woman dragged one kilometer by truck

PHUKET TOWN: A delivery van dragged a woman and her motorbike along Thepkrasattri Rd for about a kilometer early on Wednesday morning after a collision. Wipa Kongpisutthikul, 25 of Phuket Town, told police that while she was waiting to turn right near the intersection of Thepkrasattri Rd and Komaraphat Rd, the van driven by Sanit Maichum, 27, hit her and her motorbike became entangled with the van. K. Wipa cried out for the driver to stop, but she only managed to free herself after being hauled for about one kilometer. Pol Capt Passakorn Sontikul told the Gazette that witnesses rushed K. Wipa to the Adventist Hospital, while a man followed Sanit to his house near the Butterfly Garden. He then reported Sanit’s address to police who arrested Sanit and took him to Phuket Town Police Station. By that time, angry witnesses were at the station waiting to take revenge on Sanit. Capt Passakorn said K. Wipa managed to stay conscious during the whole incident in spite of suffering a fractured skull, two broken ribs, a fractured right leg, and skin abrasions over her entire body. The police charged Sanit with negligent driving and fleeing the scene of an accident.
