Tonight! Phuket Seafood Fiesta in Patong

PHUKET: The Phuket Seafood Fiesta casts its net today in an effort to draw more visitors to the island during the current low season for tourism.

The Seafood Fiesta, held in conjunction with the Andaman Hoteliers 2012 event, runs from 3pm to 10pm today and tomorrow at the Jungceylon shopping complex in Patong.

“At the festival you can experience all kinds of seafood dishes prepared in a wide variety of styles by the chefs from over 60 food shops and restaurants in Phuket,” said Chanchai Duangjit , director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) regional office in Phuket Town.

For diners on a budget, there will be 50 per cent discounts available during a “late dinner” to be held from 7:30pm to 8pm on both days of the event, said Mr Chanchai.

Entertainment will be provided by local tourism industry staff, who will show off their considerable skills in a variety of competitions that include bar-tending, vegetable carving, table decoration and spa room decoration.

In addition to watching the finest service staff in Phuket in action, the TAT has set up special instructional activities for the general public, such as “DIY: Cooking by yourself” and “Chef Trainer Cooking”.

The event was established by the TAT Phuket Town office, Thai Hotel Association-Southern Chapter and related government and private organizations in Phuket.
