PHUKET TOWN: A manager of a Kata jewelry store is lying in the Bangkok Phuket Hospital tonight after being stabbed in the neck during a struggle with a thief at his Sam Kong home yesterday. Police said that Prasit Rattanakultontip, 40, a manager of P James Jewelry in Kata, was stabbed by an unidentified man while he was cleaning his house in Phuket Villa I. “The attacker’s face was covered by a handkerchief, so we do not know what he looks like,” said Pol Maj Songwoot Koonjan of Phuket Town Police Station. However, he added, “The victim said that the man’s eyes reminded him of a construction worker who had previously built a pond for him at his home.” After coming into the house, the attacker forced K. Prasit to go to his father’s room on the second floor. There, a struggle ensued, during which K. Prasit was stabbed in the back of the neck. The thief also received cuts to his fingers during the fight. After the thief fled, K Prasit struggled down the stairs and yelled to a neighbor for help. Arriving at the scene, police officers found a fake gun on the floor, along with blood from both K. Prasit and his attacker. Maj Songwoot said that the police had been unable to get more information on the incident from K. Prasit because of his condition. A doctor at the hospital told the Gazette that the victim was now out of the ICU and out of danger, but was unable to speak.
