Teenagers break out of detention center
PHUKET: Three teenagers escaped from the Phuket Observation and Protection Center (OPC) late on Monday night. To escape, the boys used an iron bar from a bed frame to force open a window, then scaled the center’s perimeter wall. An officer at the OPC, who asked not to be named, said that the teenagers may have been frightened by a rumor that their parents would not sign for their release, and that the boys would be sent to the OPC in Surat Thani. Officers at the OPC reported the breakout to police at 2 am. Pol Capt Pin Inmark of the Muang District Police Station caught one of the teenagers shortly thereafter, but the other two, both 15 and both in detention for theft and assault, remain at large.
