Surayud, Badawi to play a round in Phuket
PHUKET: Prime Minister Gen Surayud Chulanont and Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi are scheduled to meet in Phuket on February 11 to play a round of golf and stay one night, before heading to Bangkok the following day.
The stately visit was announced by Phuket Vice-Governor Tri Augkaradacha at a meeting yesterday at Phuket Provincial Hall.
Citing a draft itinerary, V/Gov Tri said that PM Badawi is scheduled to arrive in Phuket around 11 am, just after Gen Surayud’s flight is scheduled to land.
The Prime Ministers will play golf in the afternoon, then dine together in the evening.
The venues the PMs will visit have yet to be confirmed, though more details are expected to be released tomorrow.
In the afternoon of February 12, PM Badawi and Gen Surayud will leave Phuket for Bangkok on different planes. Both will arrive Bangkok around 2:30 pm.
At 5:40 pm that day both Prime Ministers will attend meetings at Government House, and at 7:20 pm they are expected to make an announcement together. More details were not available.
PM Badawi will leave Bangkok February 13, although a departure time has yet to be confirmed.
