Special air deals for MICE passengers

PHUKET: To help boost tourism to Phuket, Bangkok Airways will provide 43,920 free tickets for government officers traveling from Bangkok to Phuket or vice-versa for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) between April 1 and September 30.

In the same period, private-sector MICE travelers will be able to buy one-way Bangkok-Phuket tickets for just 500 baht and round-trip tickets for 1,000 baht.

Tourism Council of Thailand President Vichit Na Ranong today said, “The MICE market has [shrunk] since the tsunami. However, within Thailand, big companies still organize meetings in Phuket. We are trying to compensate for the fall in the number of international MICE travelers to Phuket by attracting more people from the domestic market.

“We believe that this promotion will attract MICE travelers to Phuket. However, we have yet to calculate how many MICE travelers we expect will come [because of this promotion],” he said.

For more information about the MICE promotion, call the Tourism Council of Thailand, located at the Tourism Authority of Thailand offices in Bangkok, at Tel: 02-2505500 ext 1645-8.
