Sheraton to run new resort in Krabi

AO NANG: Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc and Thai company MBK Properties and Development have announced an agreement whereby Starwood will manage a new resort, now being constructed north of Ao Nang, under its Sheraton brand. The 246-room Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort is to open in December on a 48-rai site on Khlong Muang Beach, which is north of Haad Nopparat Thara. “This is a significant addition to our resort collection in the Asia Pacific region,” the Business Wire news service quoted Miguel Ko, Starwood’s President for Asia-Pacific, as saying. “We are very proud to be managing this magnificent property through our partnership with MBK, which has become well established through the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Bangkok,” Mr Ko added. The 246 rooms will include 30 “club floor” rooms and six executive suites. The resort will also feature five food outlets, a health club, a spa, tennis and squash courts, water sports, a retail center and a games room. There are two meeting rooms to accommodate up to 200 people. The resort will be Starwood’s fifth property in Thailand, and its second resort in the country, the first being the Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket.
