CHERNG TALAY: Laguna Phuket, known worldwide for its annual triathlon, will be the official host and presenting sponsor for the inaugural Phuket International Marathon, to be held on June 18.

Raimund Wellenhofer, Managing Director of Bangkok-based event organizer, Go Adventure Asia, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Laguna Phuket. Their extensive experience with the triathlon makes them an ideal partner and [will] make this an exciting, not-to-be-missed sports event in Asia.”

Marathon activities will kick off on June 15, with daily sporting activities for all ages, culminating on June 18 in a marathon, a half-marathon and a 10-km run, all of which will begin and end in Laguna Phuket.

Online registration is now open with “early-bird” reduced entry fees available for all three distances. Runners who register before May 1 for will pay reduced rate of US$50 (2,000 baht) for the marathon, US$40 (1,600 baht) for the half-marathon and US$35 (1,400 baht) for the 10-km run.

The official travel partner, Go Thailand Tours is offering accommodation packages at the five Laguna Phuket hotels. These include marathon entry fees, hotel transfers, and tickets to parties that will take place in the complex.
