Regatta ends on windless note
KATA: The 15th Phuket King’s Cup Regatta ended with a whimper rather than a bang when the final day’s racing was canceled for lack of wind – the second such windless day in the six-day event. As a result, the seven class awards were made on the basis of races completed by the end of Friday, as follows: Racing: 1. Hi Fidelity (Neil Pryde); 2. Yo (Peter Ahern); 3. Pla Loma III (Keith Moore). Premier Cruising: 1. Yendys (Richard Grimes); 2. Hocux Pocux II (David Kong); 3. Maligaya (Andreas Soriano III). Cruising 1: 1. Zephyr (Jeremy Mead); 2. Octopussy (Schle Wuthanan); 3. Big A (Horst Larkis). Cruising 2: 1. Graffitti (David Bell); 2. Gotcha Lagi! (Amir Zohri Rahim); 3. The Royal Thai Navy II (Sub-Lt Veerasit Puangnak). Cruising 3: 1. Free Wind (George Foose); 2. Cinders (Stuart Crowe); 3. Tag (Mike Downard). Classic: 1. Star of The West (Kim Bunting); 2. Xyphias (Christopher Edwards); 3. Sanook (Julian Hill). Ocean multi-hull: 1. Cedar Swan (Radab Kanjanavanit); 2. Summersalt (Shuji Hagihara); 3. Securicor Fine Pitch (Tony Lough).
