Raids net two ya bah dealers in one day
PHUKET TOWN: Police nabbed two ya bah dealers on Thursday in two separate raids. The first arrest came after Pol Maj Searmpan Sirikong, inspector of the Special Team at Phuket Town Police Station, received information that a house on Soi Suknirun, off Chao Fa Nai Rd, was being used by drug dealers to sell ya bah. Police raided the house but could find no incriminating evidence. However, as they were leaving, a 23-year-old man arrived on a motorcycle. They searched him and found 145 ya bah pills in his pockets. He was arrested and charged with trafficking in an illicit drug. The same day, Pol Maj Prakarn Permwassana, inspector of the Phuket Town Investigation Team, received a tip-off that a pump attendant at a gas station on the Bypass Rd was selling ya bah to truck drivers and youths. Police posing as customers approached the 19-year-old, bought drugs from him, and arrested him on trafficking charges. Fourteen pills were found in his shirt.
