Phuket truck slams into Patong Hill power pole after brakes fail

PHUKET: A six-wheeled truck loaded with cinder blocks slammed into a Phuket power pole on Patong Hill after the vehicle’s brakes failed this morning.
Police arrived at the scene at about 10am.
No one was injured in the accident, police officers told the Phuket Gazette.
The driver told police that he was delivering the cinder blocks from Phuket Ka Cement in Rassada to a construction site in Patong when the brakes failed.
Police have yet to release the name of the driver, and remain at the scene while the operation to clear all the spilled cinder blocks off the road is underway.
The accident has caused long traffic tailbacks on the road between Kathu and Patong. Police are advising motorists to use alternative routes until the road has been cleared.
A staffer at Phuket Ka Cement told the Gazette that the store was sending employees to help clear the debris as quickly as possible.
The accident this morning follows a tour bus slamming into the wall of a temple after its brakes failed on Patong Hill late yesterday afternoon (story here).
