Phuket strong in property awards

BANGKOK: Players in Phuket’s property industry scooped three national prizes and shared top honors for the country’s Best Villa Development at the inaugural Thailand Property Awards at the JW Marriott on Sukhumvit Rd, Bangkok, on December 13.

The awards ceremony was attended by more than 200 guests from the real estate industry, including developers, agents, architects, interior designers and members of real estate associations and organizations.

Prof Manop Bongsatad, chairman of the panel of independent judges, said that all decisions were based solely on the applications received, as it would not have been feasible to make site visits to all the businesses concerned.

However, he expressed confidence that all winners represented excellence and high achievement in their respective fields, and were worthy recipients of their awards.

At the ceremony the following award winners were announced:

• Best Villa Development – Phuket Prime Property Ltd for Baan Yamu and Dhevatara Properties Co. Ltd for Dhevatara Cove.

• Best Agent – Samui Villas and Homes (sponsored by Raimon Land).

• Best Architect – Original Vision Ltd for Samsara (sponsored by Gaggenau).

• Best Condo Development – TCC Capital Land for Athenee Residence.

• Best Developer – TCC Capital Land Limited (sponsored by Indigo Real Estate).

• Best Interior Designer – Laguna Resorts & Hotels PLC.

• Best Real Estate Website – Northpoint (www.northpointpattaya.com) from Raimon Land PLC.

• Green Development Award – Laguna Resorts & Hotels PLC.

The South was well represented among the winners. One of the most popular award categories, Best Villa Development, saw a tie between Dhevatara Cove on Koh Samui and Baan Yamu in Phuket.

Laguna Resorts & Hotels PLC won the Green Development award and Best Interior Designer.

At the event an auction was held to raise money for the Children of the Forest charity (www.childrenoftheforest.com). A variety of gifts were auctioned including two nights at The Nam Hai in Vietnam, two nights at the Banyan Tree Pool Villa in Phuket and a luxury day cruise in Krabi provided by Maan Tawan Cruises.

The auction proved popular, with some generous donations from attendees raising 500,000 baht.
