Phuket police clueless in hunt for missing 3-year-old
PHUKET: Days after a woman called on the public to help find her missing three-year-old son, police have no leads.
The distraught 23-year-old mother, Saowalak Chaiyo, said her son went missing while playing in front of their home in Wichit on Wednesday.
Jetsadakron Chaiyo, nicknamed Nong DJ, was wearing a white hoodie with a black Angry Birds logo, orange shorts and green ‘Ben 10’ shoes when he went missing (story here).
“So far we have yet to find any clues about what might have happened to Nong DJ. There are no CCTV in the area and no witnesses have stepped forward,” explained Wichit Police Superintendent Kittipong Klaikaew. “We did check the nearest CCTV, but it is more than 500 meters from where he went missing. We will continue to do our best.”
Assisting in the search for Nong DJ are volunteer members of The Mirror Foundation, a Thai non-governmental organization run by Thai and hilltribe staff, who often assist in cases involving missing persons. The Bangkok-based volunteers started handing out missing-person fliers after they were contacted by Ms Soawalak.
Ms Saowalak’s ex-husband and family continue their own search for the boy.
“We have contacted a fortune teller in hopes that he would be able to help,” Ms Saowalak said. “We were told that my son is alive. Nonetheless, we’ve yet to find him. My heart is breaking; I can barely sleep or eat.”
Anyone who recognizes or finds the boy can contact Ms Saowalak at 083-639 3868 or the Wichit Police at 076-355 073.
