Phuket family man struggling with debt hangs himself

PHUKET: A 52-year-old Phuket ice cream vendor who was despondent over heavy debts was found hanged at his home in Baan Don, Thalang, yesterday.

Police presume the death to be suicide.

Rabieb Kasiraksa woke at 5:20am to find her husband Chinda hanged from a beam in the kitchen, said Lt Thani Petchswee of the Thalang Police.

“When we arrived at the house, Mrs Rabieb was crying and hugging his body in the kitchen,” Lt Thani said.

“We believe he had been dead for about five hours before we arrived,” he added.

Mr Chinda’s three children are studying at a high school and a university in Phuket Town, Lt Thani explained.

“Mrs Rabieb believes her husband killed himself because of his many debts,” he said.

“She told us that he recently complained about money problems and said he was unhappy several times, but she did not think he would kill himself,” Lt Thani said.
