Man slashed in break-and-enter, claims fleeing teen gang attack

PHUKET: Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a man who was found bleeding profusely in a stranger’s home in central Phuket early this morning.

Officers arrived at the home, in the Permsak Villa estate in Baan Manik, Thalang, at about 2:30am.

“When we arrived, we found Channarong Unong, 25, on the ground bleeding in front of the house,” said Lt Suporn Muangkhai of the Thalang Police.

“He had a deep cut to his left arm and cuts to his neck.”

Police were shown a ground-floor window that had been smashed open, leaving shards of broken glass scattered on the inside of the house.

“A trail of blood led from the window up to the second floor. We found blood on the storeroom doorknob as well,” Lt Suporn said.

Ratchaporn Theepratana, 65, told police that he was woken up by the sound of a person rummaging around on the second floor.

“He got up to take a look and found Mr Channarong on the floor, bleeding heavily,” Lt Suporn said.

Police questioned Mr Channarong at Thalang Hospital, where he was taken to receive treatment.

“He said that he was chased by a gang of teenagers who were trying to attack him, and that he smashed the window to get help,” Lt Suporn said.

Police have yet to press any charges against Mr Channarong.

“We are waiting for him to be discharged from hospital,” said Lt Suporn. “We will question him further, investigate his claims and search the home for more evidence.”
