Kitchen knife killing: wife on the run

RASSADA: A woman who appears to have been a victim of domestic violence was on the run today after her husband was killed with a kitchen knife. Somsak Thepthong, 37, a laborer, was stabbed once in the stomach at the couple’s home on 12/66 Moo 1, Koh Sireh at the weekend. Pol Capt Sarit Buthnongsan, of Phuket Town Police Station, told the Gazette that the prime suspect, Sim Srivichian, 31, ran away about an hour before the police reached the scene. Officers arrived to find furniture overturned and household items scattered about. Relatives told police the couple were always fighting, especially when K. Somsak was drunk. K. Sim and their two children were often kicked and beaten, the relatives said. Neighbors told police that the house fell quiet after 45 minutes of fighting on Saturday night. K. Sim ran out just after midnight and told people that she had stabbed her husband. Relatives set out to take K. Somsak to hospital, but after 10 minutes they realized he was dead and returned to lay the body outside the couple’s house. The children were being cared for by relatives today.
