Kids lifesaving carnival on Saturday

KAMALA: A “Nippers Mini Surf Lifesaving Carnival” will be held on Saturday morning, December 20, at Kamala Beach, near Kamala Park and Kamala Police Station.

The competition, open to kids five to 15 years of age, is organized and conducted by the Phuket Lifeguard Club.

Children from local schools and swim clubs are invited to attend the carnival, which is open to all.

The event will start with registration at 9 am and finish at about 12:30 pm.

Competitors will be grouped into three age categories: 5-7 years; 8-11; and 12-15.

There will swimming events, sprint competitions and other fun activities. Those finishing first through third will receive medals to mark their achievements.

There is no entry fee for the carnival, the purpose of which is to promote water safety and develop an interest among young people in lifesaving as a sport.

Please note that parents or legal guardians must sign in at registration to permit their child(ren) to participate.
