Heart-broken singer hangs herself

PHUKET TOWN: A singer and part-owner of a karaoke bar killed herself because she thought her husband was once again seeing a former girlfriend, police believe. Following an anonymous phone call, officers found the body of Shanikarn Boonsomsu, 24, hanging by a rope in the kitchen of her home at Phanthep Condo Town on Mae Luan Rd, Phuket Town, at about 7 am on Saturday. Pol Lt Col Pissanu Poolwong of Phuket Town police told the Gazette that K. Shanikarn had been dead about three hours. The dead woman was a singer at the Pearl Hotel in Phuket Town and was also part-owner of Song Time, a karaoke bar. Her husband, Nipon, told police that the night before she died she had gone to see him at the Maison Bar, also in Phuket Town, where he was a working partner. On meeting her husband’s former girlfriend there, she went home immediately, police said. Her husband went home after work, saw his wife asleep, gave milk to their seven-month-old son, and fell asleep in the couple’s room. K. Nipon told police that relatives woke him in the morning to tell him that his wife was dead. Her body was due to be cremated at Wat Kosit this afternoon.
