Don&’t bore your guests – Gov
PHUKET TOWN: Governor CEO Pongpayome Vasaputi today urged organizers of events in Phuket to be aware of what their guests are likely to enjoy, and not to bore them with endless speeches and other formalities. His remarks came at an all-day seminar held at the Royal Phuket City, focusing on Tourism Destination Preservation and Being A Good Host. Gov Pongpayome said, “Most hosts think of themselves and organize fairs – or shows or whatever – in a way that they themselves will enjoy, and without thinking what will interest their guests. “For example, [local] fairs are usually full of formalities which take up much too much time. The organizers enjoy themselves, but the guests are bored. “To be good hosts, organizers should realize and care about what their guests want, not what they themselves want.” The meeting, which brought together government and private sector representatives, also featured a presentation by Napasorn Kakai, Assistant Director of the TAT in Phuket, on “The situation of tourism in Thailand and Phuket”, and a panel discussion on the question: “How can local leaders support Phuket tourism?”. The panel members were the Dr Prasit Koeysiripong, President of the Phuket Provincial Administration Organization; Sakchai Chaovai, Managing Director of the Kamnun and Phu Yai Baan Association; Siripoj Cheechang, member of the Pa Khlok Tambon Administration Organization; and Soonthorn Sakulson, Managing Director of Sea Canoe Thailand 1989 Co.
