Dates set for provincial by-elections
PHUKET CITY: By-elections are to be held to fill two positions in the Phuket Provincial Council after one member resigned and another died.
The first by-election will be held on July 22 in the Kathu area in District 2. The 17 polling stations will be open from 8 am to 3 pm. The member for this constituency, Boonma Eabsub, resigned on June 1.
Two candidates will run in the election to replace him: Rerngchai Akkrapongsakul and Charnsak Phummak.
The second by-election is for the Yaowarat Rd area in District 1 and will take place on August 5. This by-election follows the death of the Prinya Siamharn on June 9. There will be 13 polling stations which also will be open from 8 am to 3 pm.
Somkuan Tansakul, Wongwara Sa-nguansak and Wisut Tangwittayaporn are standing for election for this constituency.
All the candidates in both by-elections have registered as independent.
