Curbside garbage bins banned
PHUKET TOWN: In a bid to keep Phuket Town streets clean, from July 1 residents living along four main roads in town will no longer be allowed to leave their garbage bins on the street. Phuket Town Councilor Somjai Suwansupana announced today, “Thepkrasattri Rd [from the City Hotel to Wat Kosit], Rassada Rd, Phang Nga Rd and Thalang Rd will all be ‘garbage-bin-free zones’.” Phuket Town Municipality Administrative Officer Sompong Hoamsuwan explained, “People who live along these roads will no longer be allowed to leave their garbage bins on the street. Instead, they will have to use new large bins located 500 meters apart along each of the roads.” However, K. Sompong added that residents living along these roads would be allowed to leave their bins outside their homes between 8 pm and 9 pm every day for their household garbage to be collected.
