Cook’s killing baffles police
CHERNG TALAY: Days have passed but police admit they are still baffled by the murder of a young cook from a stylish new upmarket restaurant in Cherng Talay. A fellow worker from the new Red Room restaurant found the body of 23-year-old Amporn Changthong lying beside Sri Soonthorn Rd, some 200 meters from the venue, about 3:30 am last Friday. The young cook was dead. He had injuries to his head, chest and abdomen, most likely caused by broken beer bottles that littered the scene. His motorbike was standing upright nearby and nothing appeared to have been stolen. Pol Maj Anan Chingchit, Inspector of Cherng Talay police station, told the Gazette, “We still have no idea who the murderer might be. It is the most mysterious case we’ve seen.” Bartender and co-worker Noparat Kunyayon found Amporn’s body. “I was told later that he died at the scene,” K. Noparat told the Gazette. He added that, on the night of K. Amporn’s death, workers at the restaurant, which has been open for just a few weeks, stayed on for a while after closing time. K. Amporn then headed for home in nearby Bang Tao. That was the last time his colleagues saw him alive.
