Concerns grow for missing Dane

PATONG: Danish tourist Henrik Rasmussen, 47, remains missing despite a reward of 10,000 baht for information that helps find the holidaymaker.

Mr Rasmussen, who suffers from Down syndrome, disappeared from the Royal Paradise Hotel on January 28.

“He left the hotel around 4:30 am to look for his lost mobile phone. We haven’t heard from him since,” said Mr Rasmussen’s cousin Helen Soerenson, who arrived in Phuket on holiday with Mr Rasmussen.

Mr Rasmussen’s family, who have postponed their return to Denmark, have distributed more than 400 leaflets featuring his photo (click here).

Lending their support to the search has been a group of British police officers on holiday in Phuket.

“We currently have no news about Henrik Rasmusen, but hope he is still somewhere in Patong. My officers have been issued with a photograph of him. They know they are looking for a man with Down syndrome,” said Lt Col Sopol Borirak of Kathu Police Station.

Mr Rasmussen is 179 centimeters tall, and has gray hair and a light-gray mustache.

Anyone with information that may help locate Mr Rasmussen is urged to contact Katja Pregaard at 081-4150217. Alternatively, contact Helen Soerenson. Her Danish phone number is (45) 31651660.
