Carabao heading for Phuket
PHUKET: Thai superstars Carabao are to perform in Phuket on Monday. The group will be joined on stage by Thai songstress Thanaporn “Parn” Waegprayoon, who collaborated with them on their latest album.
Carabao’s career spans 25 years and their songs are some of the most recognizable in modern Thai music. The 12-piece band is part of the “Songs for Life” movement.
The concert is part of a tour of the southern provinces organized by Prakarn Kantangphan, a Provincial Counciller for Trang province. The first concert was fue to be staged tonight in Phattalung, followed by Trang tomorrow; Nakhorn Sri Thammarat on Sunday; Phuket on Monday; Phang Nga on Tuesday; Surat Thani on Wednesday and Haad Yai on Thursday.
Tickets for the Phuket gig, to be staged at Saphan Hin, will be on sale on the day of the concert at the entrance for 120 baht for a standing ticket. Tickets may not be bought in advance.
K. Prakarn commented, “I’m afraid that radical Carabao fans will fight with each other so I think it is safer without chairs. It is the rainy season now which may cause a problem. If there is heavy rain the concert will be canceled but if there is a little rain then the show must go on.”
The organizers are hoping to have more than 5,000 people attending the concert. The doors open at 8 pm.
