Canadian pedestrian killed

PATONG: A Canadian pedestrian died after being hit by a motorbike on Thursday evening while crossing the beach road in Patong. Pol Lt Serm Khannimit of Kathu Police Station told the Gazette, “Michel Luc Ladouceur, 44, was crossing the road in front of the Patong Valentine’s Day Fair at about 10 pm when Teera Muangkalee, 24, from Sukhothai, crashed into him.” An ambulance took Mr Ladouceur to the emergency room of Patong Hospital where staff tried in vain to revive him. X-rays showed that his neck and both legs were broken. “Teera was also hurt and in shock. He was later charged with negligent driving causing death,” said Lt Serm. Mr Ladouceur was due to be cremated today at Laem Petch temple in Patong.
