Boxing Champ To Kick Off Festivities

PATONG BEACH: Former international muay Thai champion Samart Payakaroon will be on hand this evening to help launch a new 20-million-baht multi-purpose entertainment venue at the Phuket Simon Shopping Arcade on Soi Bangla. The kick boxer is scheduled to step into the ring at 9 p.m. for a one-hour demonstration of the very traditional Thai sport. A spokesman for Phuket Simon Entertainment Company told the Gazette this morning that the public is invited to the free event. A 50 percent discount on food and beverages will also be offered after 8 p.m. as part of the opening night festivities. Following the one-hour boxing demonstration, dancers will take the stage at the venue’s new Eros A-Go-Go.
