Bike deaths keep climbing

PHUKET: Motorcycle accidents claimed 15 lives between June 20 and July 20, according to the latest statistics from Wachira, Thalang and Patong government hospitals. In the previous month, 14 people died in accidents involving motorbikes. The statistics also show that 950 people were injured on motorbikes during the period, compared with 35 injured in cars and 29 in other road accidents. In addition, two deaths resulted from accidents involving cars during the 30 days. The new figures bring the island’s road toll to 106 dead and 7,533 injured since January. The toll for the same period last year was 101 dead and 7,136 people injured.
