Appeal for blood donations

PHUKET: Wachira Phuket Hospital is appealing for donations of every type blood in advance of the Vegetarian Festival, which starts tomorrow. Pinwin Pinrarainont, a medical scientist at Wachira, told the Gazette that the hospital boosts its stock of blood every year for the festival to prepare for any accidents that might happen during the nine-day period. He added that, while there were not many accidents at last year’s festival, there would be a lot of visitors from other provinces and overseas, and the hospital wanted to be prepared. Donations may be made on the fourth floor of the hospital’s new building, 353 Yaowarat Rd, from 8:30 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday, and from 8:30 am to 3 pm on weekends. For more information, call K.
