Airport traffic rises again

PHUKET: Passengers arriving or departing the island via Phuket International Airport continue to rise, according to the latest figures released by airport officials. The passenger throughput in November rose to 311,292 – a rise of 4.59% – compared to 299,139 in November, 1999. The statistics show that 311,292 passengers went through the airport in November, compared with 299,139 in the previous year. The number of passengers on domestic flights increased by 0.01% to 185,380, while international traffic rose 10.66% to 125,912. Cargo throughput for the same period, however, decreased significantly, with domestic shipments falling 42.25% to 753 tons, and international shipments dropping by 17.33% to 1,054 tons.
