Abattoir worker slaughtered

PHUKET TOWN: A slaughterhouse worker died an ironic death in the early hours of Friday morning when his throat was cut during an argument that got out of hand. Police were called to housing near Suan Luang Park on Chao Fa Nai Rd after neighbors witnessed the killing. Pol Capt Anukul Nuket of Phuket Town Police Station, naming the dead man as Janhom Dongpuy, 48, said he worked at an abattoir slaughtering buffaloes. The neighbors told police that Janhom had been drinking with Sombat Sansuk, 38, from Tak. An altercation had ensued, they said, and Sombat had pulled out a knife and cut Janhom’s throat before running away. Shortly afterwards, Pol Capt Sommai Oncum found Sombat, still drunk, in nearby woodland. A search failed to turn up the weapon used in the killing but, after questioning, Sombat confessed that the two men had argued and that this had escalated into a fistfight during which he had killed Janhom.
