7-Eleven robbers make a clean getaway
PHUKET CITY: Police are still searching for reliable leads that may result in the arrest of two men who held up the 7-Eleven store opposite Prompan shopping center on Chao Fa West Rd on Sunday.
Phuket City Police received a call reporting the robbery around 2 am. The caller told police that two armed men in full-face helmets had stolen just over 1,000 baht from the store before fleeing on motorcycle.
“This will be a hard case to crack. Both the girls who work in the store have no recollection of the motorbike’s color, let alone the license plate number.
“We understand that the excitement and shock of the robbery has made it difficult for them to remember details,” Lt Col Wijak Tarom of Phuket City Police told the Gazette.
“They were able to tell me that the two men spoke to each other in a southern dialect, wore full-face helmets and pointed a gun at them before getting on their bike and speeding away,” he added.
Lt Col Vijak Tarom told the Gazette, “There were no eye-witnesses and on top of that the store does not have a closed-circuit television (CCTV) system. CCTV serves as both a deterrent and a source of evidence.”
