Weird World News: Young people doing stupid things
PHUKET: Most adults dread old age because it means you can’t do the things you could when you were young.
But if the following stories are anything to go by, those getting on in years should feel blessed with the wisdom that comes with age. The weird, dangerous and idiotic things young people are getting up to around the globe might even make getting old a bit more palatable.
Planking heads to the toilet
PLUMBKING is the latest activity for teenagers to do. It involves the “Plumbker”: putting their head in a toilet while their body stands erect against the wall, or straight up in the air without support.
Their friends take a photograph, and post it to the internet. People then post comments about how cool the Plumbker is.
A series of Plumbking photos have surfaced on the internet. Both boys and girls are in on the act. One photo shows a young man with his head in the toilet, his legs pointing straight up supported only by his shoulders in the bowl.
This is the new and more malodorous version of the equally pointless “planking” craze that made front-page news in Thailand in July, when political planking protests were held in the capital ahead of the general election.
If your unruly teen is taking a while in the toilet this week, they may be having a plumbk, so remember to knock before entering.
This is not a crock, it’s an alligator tale
A FLORIDA teenager who went fishing last month with a little wooden rod ended up catching one of the biggest alligators in the state.
The skinny19-year-old student caught the 800-pound monster just a short while into his fishing trip. With mum and dad on board the boat, the young man wrestled with the massive alligator before stunning it with a “bang stick”, a .44 caliber rifle round on a stick.
The family harpooned the 12.3-foot beast and hauled it aboard.
They plan to mount the head in their home. The mother plans to make a lamp out of one of the legs. The rest will be served up for dinner for many a meal to come.
This was all reported in the British press. Bizarre but true.
Although the catch was a whopper, it was not the largest gator ever caught in Florida. Last year a beast measuring 14.4 feet was caught.
Making it easy for police
TWO students who stole the kit bag of FC Schalke thought they had got away with their crime.
But with an air of confidence – some would call stupidity – they wandered back to the team’s hotel, where they had pilfered the kit the night before, wearing the official team tracksuits.
They then asked some of the players to sign the tracksuits.
They were arrested shortly after by police who were no doubt thankful to see the pair.
