A Thai woman today crashed her pickup into another on the fourth floor of a hospital parking building in Bangkok, sending the vehicle flying off the roof and onto the road below. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The incident happened today, May 15, at about 7.24am, on the fourth floor of the 10-storey parking building at Phramongkutklao Hospital in the Phayathai district of Bangkok. Two vehicles were damaged including a black Toyota Hilux Revo and a golden bronze Toyota Hilux Vigo.

CCTV footage in the parking building showed the golden bronze pickup driving up from the third floor to the fourth and suddenly hitting the black pickup parked in front of it.

The driver, seemingly startled by the crash, accidentally accelerated and hit the black pickup again, sending it flying off the building.

Another CCTV camera on the ground floor captured pedestrians and motorists scrambling for safety as the black pickup fell. Two motorcyclists had passed by the spot just seconds before the pickup landed.

A witness told Channel 7 that the driver of the golden bronze pickup was a woman aged between 40 to 50 years old. The witness added that the woman appeared frightened and shocked while waiting for officers from Phayathai Police Station.

The female driver later gave an interview with the media saying she was driving up the building when another car approached her closely from behind. She panicked and accidentally stepped on the accelerator. The driver said she already apologised to the owner of another car.

The owner of the black pickup told Channel 7 that he worked as a vendor at the hospital daily. Despite his deep affection for his car, which had been severely damaged and rendered unusable, he had reached an agreement with the woman regarding compensation, and the arrangement proceeded smoothly.

A similar accident was reported at a shopping mall’s car park building in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok in August 2022, where a Thai man intentionally crashed his car through a wall, landing on the road below.
