Man gets caught in crossfire in rival gang clash, grenade explodes in his hand

As rival gangs exchanged gunfire at a Chanthaburi province fruit market, a man tried to break up the fight by holding up a grenade and threatening to use it. The plan backfired. 34 year old Thammarat Suntorn was shot multiple times in the crossfire and the grenade ended up exploding in his hand.

Thammarat was severely injured with several gunshot wounds and his left severely wounded from the explosion. He was rushed to Prapokklao Hospital. Thammarat also is wanted for charges of attempted murder and gun possession. He was initially arrested in 2015, but has been on the run since. Police will arrest him once he recovers.

Police collected 12 bullet shells and a few grenades from the Pak Saeng fruit market. Nation Thailand did not report on if any arrests were made.
