Farang ‘possessed’ during Masong ritual at Vegetarian Festival

On the night of October 28, the final night of this year’s Phuket Vegetarian Festival, a Facebook user by the name of ‘Nanny Zaa Pk’, also known as Sutthicha Sutthakorn posted a 30 second video showing a western girl shaking her head with her eyes closed, in a similar fashion Masongs act when they claim they’re possessed.
She sat next to a group of Masong women at Pud Jor Shrine who say they were “waiting for Chinese angels to possess them” to continue the farewell ritual on the final day of the vegetarian festival.

“The woman came with her group of friends and she started shaking her head as possessed before heading to sit nearby the other woman Masong. That’s when I, and other people around me, started to record the video,” said Sutthicha.
“It is rare that Chinese angels would choose to possess western foreigners. As I saw, she was not completely possessed as it was the first time so there was no communication to see which angel was trying to use her body.”
