John Cleese from the British comedy group Monty Python is coming to Bangkok in January as part of his “Why There Is No Hope” tour. Tickets start at 1,500 baht and go on sale on Friday. Live Nation Tero members can purchase pre-sale tickets on Thursday. To attend the show, patrons must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 or test negative for the virus within 72 hours of the show.
Cleese, now 82 years old, is well known for his absurd and surreal comedy in the Monty Python sketches and films. His “Why There Is No Hope” stand up tour premiered last year via livestream due to the Covid-19 pandemic and can be replayed online. A review in the Guardian said the show is “less comedy show than lecture on people’s, and society’s, inescapable idiocy.”
In Bangkok, Cleese will perform on January 11 at the Impact Exhibition Hall 5. Attendees must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative result from a Covid-19 test from a certified medical facility issued within 72 hours. Face masks are required and attendees must pass through a screening checkpoint to check their temperatures.
