AI chatbot steers British woman out of troubled marriage and into arms of lover
Artificial intelligence is omnipresent: it is in healthcare, enables problem-solving and, in one case, helped one unhappily married British woman to decide to divorce her husband.
In maybe a world first, a woman sought the advice of OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot to navigate the treacherous waters of a failing marriage and a steamy affair.
Sarah, a 37 year old tech worker from South London, found herself torn between two worlds. After six months of secretly dating a man she met on the dating site Illicit Encounters, the British woman was in distress. Her five year marriage was in a mess and she didn’t know what to do. So, she turned to ChatGPT.
“I asked the GPT-3 version of the chatbot to write me a story based on my current situation, and what the person in the story should do in a failing marriage while experiencing the excitement of the affair I’ve been having.”
To her surprise, ChatGPT delivered a story that hit close to home, even considering her happiness.
Sarah took ChatGPT’s advice and ended her marriage, moving in with her lover. Reflecting on her experience, she said…
“It gave me the push I needed to make the jump and leave a relationship that had been in the doldrums for a long time.”
While Sarah’s story may be a first in the world of chatbots, it speaks to the limitless potential of AI. But Sarah doesn’t recommend making life-altering decisions with AI. She’s just happy it worked out for her.
“For the normal person using ChatGPT for the first time, it will be an eerie experience with the sort of output it is capable of.”
An Illicit Encounters spokesperson said…
“We get hundreds of stories every month from members whose lives have been changed through reaping the benefits of meeting someone else in their life,”.
“Sarah’s story is a first, but also one we really wanted to share, and we’re delighted she was happy to share it.”
