Police seized 4.4 million methamphetamine pills worth more than 400 million baht after a police chase in the Northeastern province Bueng Kan near the Thai-Laos border. Thai media says the alleged drug traffickers threw black bags full of the drugs out onto the road during the police chase and drove off into a rubber farm in the Bung Kla district.

The Royal Thai Navy and Thai Custom’s Enforcement Division had received a tip about drugs allegedly being trafficked across the Mekong River and into Thailand. Officials followed a truck they say was suspicious and driving fast by the river. The truck dropped 2 black bags on the road before driving off into a rubber farm.

Police searched the bags and found bags full of yaba, which translates to “crazy drug” and is known to be pills containing mixture of caffeine and methamphetamine. Police also found 2,970 ecstasy pills.

Since October 1, the Royal Thai Navy has been involved in 18 drug trafficking busts, seizing methamphetamine, ecstasy, heroin and marijuana, altogether worth around 2.7 billion baht.

Good work! Meth is death! However, unless I missed something, it looks like the culprits got away. That’s a shame. Throw the book at these purveyors of death!

Police in Bangkok arrested a Thai couple for allegedly smuggling 1 million methamphetamine pills. Police say 28 year old Weerasak Jedhun and 29 year old Jutharat Daengnoi planned to deliver and distribute the drugs to clients in the South.

The arrests stem from an earlier bust in Nonthaburi, a suburb outside Bangkok, where police seized 1 million methamphetamine pills and 15 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, according to police. The Patrol and Special Operation Division say that after the bust, they got a tip about a drug trafficking operation from a similar network.

Police stopped and arrested the couple at a petrol station in Bangkok. Along with seizing 1 million methamphetamine pills, police confiscated 3 mobile phones and a car.

Weerasak and Jutharat allegedly told police that they were paid about 50,000 baht to drive from the southern province Phatthalung up to Bangkok, pick up the drugs and drive back to the South to distribute the pills. The couple allegedly told police they were hired for a 3 month stint.

Police say Weerasak is also allegedly involved in 4 other drug cases. In one case, a methamphetamine pill was allegedly found in his pocket, but he claims a police officer set him up.

18 Bangkok motorbike taxi drivers get prison for 2019 mass brawl killing a bystander | The Thaiger

18 motorbike taxi drivers are sentenced to prison for their involvement in a mass street fight in June 2019 where a bystander was killed by a stray bullet. Bangkok’s Prakhonong Court handed down prison sentences ranging from 5 years to more than 27 years, according to Thai media.

The fight broke out between two gangs of win drivers, named by Thai media as Soi 1 and Soi 2, on Soi Udomsuk 1 in Bangkok’s Bang Na district. Around 50 to 60 drivers from Soi 1 attacked 20 to 30 drivers from Soi 2 with knives and other weapons, apparently because Soi 2 drivers, who were unregistered and operated without the proper orange identification vests, took customers away from the Soi 1 group.

A 20 year old Kerry Express courier, Weerawat Pheungkrut, was shot and killed when a stray bullet struck him in the left eyebrow. The drivers who were directly involved with the murder were sentenced to the longest prison terms, including leader of Soi 1 known as Pramuk. He was sentenced to 27 years and 10 months in prison and ordered to pay a 5,000 baht fine as well as 280,000 baht in compensation with a 7.5% yearly interest.

Other drivers with high prison sentences and also ordered to pay 280,000 baht in compensation with a 7.5% yearly interest:

  • Best was sentenced to 27 years in prison and ordered to pay a 5,000 baht.
  • Am was sentenced to 25 years in prison and ordered to pay a 5,000 baht fine.
  • X was sentenced to 24 years and 6 months in prison and ordered to pay a 2,500 baht fine.

Drivers with lower prison sentences:

  • Beer was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison and ordered to pay a 6,666 baht fine.
  • Too, Nui, Bank, Fluke, Mai, Tam and Moo and Jack were sentenced to 5 years in prison and ordered to pay a 5,000 baht fine.
  • Oo, Nott, Bank and Ae were sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison and ordered to pay a 5,000 baht fine.
