Head to hotcake heaven
PHUKET: Ever wonder what life would be like if all of your favorite foods were made with pancakes? Well, wonder no more.
With the moto ‘If there is no pancakes in heaven, I am not going’, the Pancake Corner is making flapjack fantasies a reality with their inventive and creative menu of pancake-themed delights that are available all day, and not just for the ambitious breakfast folk.
The menu is divided between savory and sweet pancakes with each category featuring either a classic pancake or a Dutch baby pancake, also known as a German pancake, which consists of a less sweet, cast-iron skillet full of goodness.
The most notable dish made with classic pancakes is the golden dollars, which is comprised of smoked salmon and cream cheese atop golden, fluffy hotcakes, sprinkled with capers and drizzled with maple syrup.
It is definitely a combination a person might feel hesitant about at first, but once they try it, it
becomes obvious that these flavors meld together excellently.
The same goes for the savory Dutch baby pancake: Thai chicken massaman with cheese.
The moment it arrives at the table, sizzling in its oven-hot skillet of glory, you forget all of your hesitations and dive right in without looking back.
The massaman is incredibly flavorful and the cheese adds a new kind of texture and saltiness that balances wonderfully with the sweet, coconut flavor.
And now, what pancake-studded menu is complete without dessert?
With choices ranging from apple, caramel, cinnamon with cranberry to Dutch baby strawberry crumble, the winning combination is the Royal Nutella.
Featuring two massive pancakes sandwiching a generous amount of Nutella, surrounded by banana, strawberries, ice cream and whipped cream, this dish is definitely something to satisfy your sweet tooth.
And should there be a need for additional syrup or toppings on any of these pancake desires, Pancake Corner offers several kinds from amber and light syrup to honey or jam.
One might think that pancakes with every dish would become redundant, but that’s not the case.
With so many innovative ideas, such as eggs Benedict, pizza parma ham with olives and the chicken burger with smoked cheddar, all featuring different types of this breakfast favorite, it is never daunting to try new dishes because although the flavors are familiar, they are also very different.
Pair any of these dishes with fresh, made-to-order juice or quality coffee and bask in the happiness that only happens when culinary dreams come true.
Pancake Corner is located at the intersection of Phuket Road and Rassada Road in Phuket Town and is open every day from 10am to 10pm.
