Bedroom horror: Phuket woman attacked in home, suspect at large
In a shocking home invasion that has left a woman traumatised and police on high alert, a 40 year old man forced his way into a bedroom in Moo 3, Ratsada, launching a terrifying attack that included attempted sexual assault and robbery.
The horrifying incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday, October 7. The 34 year old woman bravely reported the crime to Phuket City police, prompting an urgent investigation led by Police Captain Khantong Khaowalit.
The victim recounted the chilling moment she awoke on the third floor of her home to find a man in a black sleeveless shirt and shorts ominously standing at the foot of her bed. In a brazen move, the intruder leapt onto the bed, attempting to molest her.
In a desperate cry for help, she screamed for her aunt in a nearby room. This enraged the assailant, who violently punched her in the face and eyes multiple times before making a hasty escape.
The assault left the woman with cuts above and below her left eye. She later reviewed CCTV footage, which showed the man arriving at the house on a blue Honda Wave motorbike.
However, the footage did not reveal a clear licence plate number. The man was seen entering the building just before the attack.
Home invasion
Police stated they are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
The woman told reporters yesterday, October 8, that she had been called to work early in the morning and returned home at around 8am, leaving the downstairs door open, thinking it would be safe. At around 10am, a LINE message on her phone woke her up, and she noticed the man in her room.
He jumped onto her bed and tried to assault her but she screamed for her aunt. In response, the man hit her repeatedly. She fought back, kicking him, which eventually led to him fleeing the room.
She mentioned that the man looked vaguely familiar, possibly a customer from the shop where she worked. She expressed her fear and confusion about how he knew her address and his true intentions.
Although the assailant stole some of her money and gold jewellery, the woman’s primary concern is understanding why he targeted her. She speculated that he might have followed her from her workplace, approximately 5 kilometres away from her home.
Police have reassured her that they are investigating the case thoroughly, acknowledging the severity of the crime, reported The Phuket News.
Reflecting on the incident, the woman noted that the situation could have been much worse if the man had been armed with a knife. She considers herself fortunate to have woken up in time.
