Tourist Police roadshow swings by Phuket
PHUKET: The Thai Tourist Police Road Show arrived at Patong’s Soi Bangla on Saturday, as Tourist Police showed off facilities to help tourists gather information and enhance their safety.
A trailer on site was stocked with brochures and digital facilities to provide tourists with information.
Police were encouraging tourists to use the popular “Tourist Buddy” application, which allows users to reach the Tourist Police 24-7 through an application on their smartphone (story here).
The road show is being presented under the Tourist Police “5S” slogan, namely: smart, smile, serve, safe and secure.
“We aim to develop efficient public services, enhance tourists’ safety and ensure that visitors to Thailand are as safe as they could possibly be. And also to encourage local people to take good care of visitors,” Tourist Police Deputy Commander Col Achayon Kraithong.
The roadshow motorcade will also travel to Ayudhya, Pattaya and Hua Hin this month. (story here).
After the roadshow has concluded, one of the vehicles will be permanently stationed at each of the tourist destinations, with one to remain in Bangkok.
The vehicle stationed in Phuket will be made available for promotional campaigns staged elsewhere in Southern Thailand.
