Phuket Old Town plays host to Sketchwalk 2015
PHUKET: Some of Phuket’s most beautiful and historical locales will play host to the second annual Phuket Old Town Sketchwalk event this year from February 20 to 23.
The Phuket Old Town Sketchwalk – organized by the Phuket Sketchwalk Club, Phuket City Municipality and The Attitude Club Co Ltd – will feature many special events, including sketchwalks in Phuket Old Town, Koh Sireh and Rang Hill, workshops with famous sketchers and several sketch artwork exhibitions.
“One of the main objectives of this event is to promote, conserve and express the aesthetics of Phuket’s local tourist attractions through sketches,” Jutarat Na Takourtung, public relations coordinator of The Attitude Club, told the Phuket Gazette.
“During the three-day event, there will be a variety of exhibitions, workshops by both local and foreign sketchers, and a dinner party at The Memory at On On Hotel to wrap up the activities [on February 23].”
Ms Jutarat added that anyone who is interested in attending the Sketchwalk is welcome to do so – free of charge.
“On Saturday [February 21], Koay Shao Peng, an urban sketcher from Penang, will hold a composition sketch workshop, teaching balance, spacing and atmosphere in composition,” she continued.
“There will be many famous artists at the event, including Asnee Tasna and Sukrit Sukrakan, as well as other Bangkok sketchers.”
The locations of sketchwalks, workshops and exhibitions will vary day to day, such the Christian Assembly on Thalang Road, the boat yard at Koh Sireh, the Lard Yai walking street market on Thalang Road and Rang Hill.
Registration will open on February 20 from 6:30pm at The Memory at On On Hotel on Phang Nga Road in Phuket Town, where there will also be a welcome party.
