No road closures for Phuket Cycling Fest
PHUKET: Police will be stationed at road intersections to help with traffic flow during the Phuket Cycling Fest ride tomorrow morning (story here). However, no roads will be completely closed the Phuket Gazette was told today.
Nonetheless, drivers are asked to avoid the cycling route to prevent congestion if possible.
Cyclist will depart from Saphan Hin at 6:15am. They will make their way to Chao Fa East Road and then head south, pass Chalong Circle and Rawai Beach, stopping at Promthep Cape for a photo opportunity.
The return journey will see peddlers pass Rawai Beach and Chalong Circle, but continue north along Chao Fa West Road, before turning left and passing Wat Luang Pu Supha for a second photo opportunity at the Klong Krata Reservoir.
“This event might cause some traffic congestion,” said Saharat Pothito, from the Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket office. “We apologize about any inconvenience, but rest assured that traffic will return to normal after the 46 kilometer ride comes to an end at about 9am.”
There will be an opening event at 6:30pm today at Saphan Hin to kick off the cycling fest – all are welcome to join.
