HRH Princess Sirindhorn to visit Phuket | Thaiger

PHUKET: HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will visit Phuket and Phang Nga in October and again in November, Phuket Governor Udomsak Uswarangkura announced this morning.

On October 26, Princess Sirindhorn will be in Phuket to take part in a Tod Kathin ceremony, during which people donate money to a wat, at Wat Luang Phu Supa in Chalong, residence of Abbot Luang Phu Supa. At 111 years old, he is the oldest Abbot on the island.

Princess Sirindhorn will be representing the Thai Red Cross as the Princess is the Executive Vice-President of the Thai Red Cross Society.

Afterwards, Princess Sirindhorn will visit Phang Nga villagers at Baan Nam Khem, Takuapa, Tai Muang, and Kuraburi District, before heading north to meet villagers at Haad Sai Dam in Ranong Province.

From November 12-14, the Princess will return to visit Phuket Aquarium at Cape Panwa, Satree Phuket School, Wachira Phuket Hospital and the Phuket Campus of the Prince of Songkhla University, as well as officiate at the opening of the Radi medical equipment factory in Pa Khlok.

She will also visit villagers at the Koh Yao Islands in Phang Nga Bay.

Speaking at a monthly meeting, Gov Udomsak called for more support and better coordination by government officers during his last year as Phuket Governor. He expects to retire from government service next October.

“I will try to be more calm when working,” Gov Udomsak joked. “In fact, I’m a very relaxed person, except when I’m working – when everything has to be treated seriously. I would like to see us work well together.”

Phuket Vice-Governor Winai Buapradit took the opportunity this morning to thank fellow officers for their assistance during his term in Phuket. V/Gov Winai will take up the post of Phang Nga Governor on Monday.

“I feel very proud to have been appointed Governor there, and I will work hard. Thank you, Governor Udomsak, for giving me the chance to show my abilities and for treating me like a brother.

“I would also like to thank all officers, both central government and local, who have helped co-ordinate our work so well. I will use all my experience from here and apply it in Phang Nga,” V/Gov Winai added.
