Weird World News: Miracles of miracles, wonders of wonders, news knows no bounds

Legacy Phuket Gazette

PHUKET: This week’s Weird World News roundup is dedicated to two near-miracles and one bona fide one that might just make you cringe, as a dead cat takes wing, Beiber fever empowers a young girl to defy medical odds, and a boy wakes up for a glass of water at his own funeral and then is pronounced dead – again, all made headlines this week.

Beiber Fever inspires miracle

Beiber Fever, a plague that has infected the vast majority of Just Bieber fans, is now helping a young Canadian defy medical odds, reported the Huffington Post.

Megan Ham suffers from Lissencephaly, a neurological condition so rare that there are only 1,500 known cases among children worldwide.

Due to her condition, Megan suffers several seizures a day and is unable to walk or talk. She was not expected to even live beyond her second birthday.

There was even a point at which doctors thought Megan would never even recognize her own parents or be able to express emotion.

But now 11 years old, Megan has beaten the odds and has caught a serious case of Beiber Fever. According to the young girl’s parents the only thing in Megan’s environment that she responds to is Justin Beiber.

“She just can’t get enough of him,” said Roxanne Ham, Megan’s mother.

Megan’s teacher Kim Graves was the first to notice the effect Beiber’s music had on the girl. She is now known to smile and kick her feet in response to Justin’s music.

“It really helps her to get through the day,” said Ms Graves. “It keeps her happy and it keeps her comfortable.”

Beiber’s music has brought to the surface something in Megan that the doctors had never thought possible, as it has shown her family that she does have the ability to interact with them, according to Fox 12 News.

Dead’ boy wakes up at own funeral, dies

A Brazilian two-year-old woke up in his coffin just before his funeral, asked for a glass of water, then drank it – and then laid back down, lifeless, reported The Mirror.

After waking up in his coffin, Kelvin Santos apparently sat up, smiled, looked around and then drank a glass of water before laying back down.

“Everybody started to scream. We thought a miracle had taken place and our boy had come back to life,” said the boy’s father, Antonio Santos.

“Then he lay down again and didn’t move again. We couldn’t wake him,” he said.

Unable to wake Kelvin, Mr Santos carried him back to the hospital.

Though mystified, the doctors confirmed that the boy was indeed dead.

Kelvin died from pneumonia and respiratory failure in Aberlardo Santos Hospital at 7pm on Friday following a five-day fever, reported The Mirror.

Mr Santos has registered a complaint with the police, as he his positive his son was a victim of medical malpractice.

“Dead people don’t just wake up and talk. I’m determined to find out the truth,” he said.

Dead gets gift of flight

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s helicopter cat. Dutch artist Bart Jansen recently lost his furry pussy, which led him down the strange path of converting his close friend into a hybrid helicopter cyborg cat, according to The Mirror.

Orville the cat, named after aviator Orville Wright, was killed after a car ran over him.

The cat was then renamed “Orvillecopter” after it was stuffed and reconstructed with a specially designed flying mechanism.

“After a period of mourning he received his propellers posthumously,” said Mr Jansen.

“He will receive more powerful engines and larger props for his birthday. So this hopping will soon change into steady flight,” he added.

Describing his cat as “half cat, half machine”, Mr Jansen insisted the use of the cat’s remains was respectful and honored a life well lived, reported The Mirror.

Mr Jansen seemed happy to announce that Orville will soon be “flying with the birds”.

“Oh, how he loved birds,” the artist added.

The Orvillecopter is now on display at the Kunstrai art festival in Amsterdam.
